Apr 30, 2020 (newstodate): Weiji, the Chinese "word" for crisis, literally spells "danger+opportunity". Both elements are indeed highly meaningful under the Covid-19 crisis.
In response to strong needs in the market for cargo capacity while passenger flights are cancelled, new cargo venues are opening, including a series of all-cargo flights between Canada and Denmark starting from April 26, 2020.
-We are happy to offer capacity on a series of so far six all-cargo flights between Copenhagen and Canada in a partnership with Air Canada, says Nicolaj Mariegaard, HWF Managing Director Denmark.
-Both Air Canada and HWF Denmark saw a need for this all-cargo service, and we have met a strong response in the Danish market for exports of shipments especially in pharmaceuticals, enzymes and spares to North America.
-The service was initiated based on strong demand from Denmark and it has been no problem selling the capacity in the open market.
-We normally load some 15 tonnes on Air Canada's Airbus A330-300 aircraft with full passenger cabins, but using the aircraft for all-cargo purposes the belly hold will allow up to 30-35 tonnes of cargo which is a significant offer in the market.
-At this moment, the six all-cargo flights planned will run till the end of May 2020, but we may see additional flights during the period as requested by the market, as well as maybe flights also during the period thereafter till June 24, 2020, when Air Canada currently plans to reopen passenger traffic on the route, says Mr Mariegaard.
