Apr 02, 2020 (newstodate): Budapest Airport has welcomed its first tenant moving into the airport's new Cargo City.
On March 30, 2020, the Austrian logistics company Cargo-Partner settled in its newly-built office and warehouse at BUD Cargo City with facilities comprising storage location offering pallet slots for temporary rack storage in a 1,200 sq m warehouse providing a dedicated cross-docking area and five truck docks with high roller shutters for oversized cargo, and the option of temperature-controlled storage.
When fully developed, the BUD Cargo City will comprise an 11,200 sq m building dedicated to forwarders and a 21,600 sq m handling and warehousing terminal as well as a 32,000 sq m ICAO Code F apron with capacity for handling of two ICAO Code F aircraft.
In January 2020, coming tenants also include Kuehne + Nagel, DB Schenker, EKOL, Kombi Express, Ghibli/ CECZ and Yusen Logistics.
When the new facilities are fully developed, the airport's handling capacity will grow to 250,000 tonnes of cargo annually.
