Apr 14, 2020 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport is to lose its direct non-stop connection to Belgium - for a period, at least.
Brussels Airlines, currently stuck on ground after cancelling all flights till May 15, 2020, is to suspend flights to eight destinations including Billund Airport, after a gradual reopening of its flights.
Also to go are flights on routes to Hanover, Valencia and Seville, Santorini, Bristol, Marrakesh and Moscow.
So far, these destinations will be closed down till the Summer 2021 flight schedule - if a business case still remains.
Brussels Airlines performed its first flight to Billund Airport on March 30, 2015, offering two rotations on work days as well as one daily rotation on weekends, initially using a Bombardier Q400 aircraft from now-defunct airline flyBe that filed for bankruptcy on March 5, 2020, and from summer 2019 moving to wet-leased CRJ900 services by CityJet.
