Mar 09, 2020 (newstodate): Wizz Air was to unveil its plans for the new subsidiary based in Abu Dhabi on March 10, 2020 - but this is not to be.
The press conference with the attendance of Wizz Air CEO Jozsef Varadi has now been cancelled "out of an abundance of caution and in line with government directives," Wizz Air says in a message to media.
Planning for start of services by H2, 2020, the coming new airline is a 50/50 JV between Wizz Air and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company, and will initially start services with a fleet of three Airbus A321neo aircraft, increasing to 50 over the coming ten years.
The focus of the business plan is to set up traffic between Abu Dhabi and destinations in Russia, Africa, India and Eastern Europe, including the Balkan markets of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.
