Mar 05, 2020 (newstodate): Sweden's Stockholm Airport saw an over-all decline in cargo volumes during January 2020, the first month so far reported in 2020.
A total of 7,344 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, a decline by five percent, y-o-y.
Of the total volume, international cargo accounted for 7,102 tonnes which was down 6.3 percent, compared to 2019.
Part of the international loads, European cargo was however rising by 32 percent, y-o-y, to 3,626 tonnes in January 2020.
Contributing to the drop in international cargo in January was the suspension of flights by China Eastern Airlines between Shanghai and Stockholm.
The carrier has thus suspended services from January 15, 2020, scheduling the return from June 15, 2020, with only three weekly rotations.
