Mar 19, 2020 (newstodate): Norway's total export of fresh salmon again increased in week 11, ending March 15, 2020.
A total of 18,067 tonnes of salmon was exported, an increase by 24.4 percent, y-o-y, while volumes through the first 11 weeks of this year are now only 1.6 percent down on last year.
Volumes exported to China, totalling 1,217 tonnes, were down 27.3 percent, y-o-y, which is however an improvement on last week that was down 50.5 percent in volumes to the Chinese market.
So far this year up to and including week 11, Norway exported a total of 2,550 tonnes of salmon to China which is down 49.2 percent, y-o-y.
Volumes exported to Hong Kong were down only 7.5 percent to 221 tonnes in week 11, showing strong signs of recovery.
Even more encouraging in week 11 was the export to South Korea that increased by six percent to 412 tonnes, bringing the volumes during weeks 1-11 to 4,193 tonnes - only 4.3 percent below volumes in 2019.
