Mar 25, 2020 (newstodate): Tomorrow, March 26, 2020, will see the first Transatlantic cargo flight by SAS using a "converted" Airbus A330 passenger aircraft.
Behind the venture is SAS Cargo in a cooperation with Scan Global Logistics, aiming at offering a full-charter cargo solution between Scandinavia and the USA.
- Scan Global Logistics expects a continued demand for charter solutions to and from US in the coming period, and we are working on similar solutions both in the Nordic area as well as from main gateways in Europe, the company says in a release.
The need for cargo capacity during this period is documented by the fact that normally about 80 percent of all air cargo between Europe and the USA is carried in belly holds on passenger flights that have now come to a near stand-still.
