Mar 30, 2020 (newstodate): One airline defying the current downturn in the global aviation industry may be Croatia Airlines, taking in new aircraft capacity where other airlines drown in over-capacity.
The carrier has thus taken delivery of one Airbus A319 aircraft, bringing its fleet of this type to five units.
The latest addition of the ex-Germania aircraft is acquired on an eight-year lease contract.
True enough, the aircraft lease contract was negotiated before the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis leaving less need for the expansion of the fleet that is, however, however still plying the skies on a limited route network in Europe.
Also prior to the outbreak of the current crisis, Croatia Airlines negotiated the lease of one Bombardier Q400 aircraft, but it is uncertain if this deal will be finalized under the current conditions.
