Mar 24, 2020 (newstodate): Since March 20, 2020, all Air Greenland's daily direct non-stop flights between Greenland and Denmark are suspended for a two-weeks period.
To maintain a minimum of passenger transportation between the two countries, Air Greenland is now operating an air bridge with Dash-8 flights between Nuuk and Copenhagen via Keflavik, on Iceland, which offers, however, no capacity for cargo.
To remedy this situation, Greenland's government has decided to charter a freighter aircraft for a twice-weekly rotation between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen to support critical infrastructure in need of spares and components to sustain services, while Air Greenland A/S, Disko Line A/S and Norlandair will cooperate to bring mail and cargo to off-lying hamlets on the vast coastline.
