Mar 13, 2020 (newstodate): The MoU signed earlier this month between Finland's AiRRhow and Nabimia's aviation industry may soon turn from words to action.
Under the MoU, the parties agreed to work on a feasibility study on setting up a Civil Aviation Center of Excellence aiming at promoting the civil aviation industry and its relations to the Namibian society in the form of training and jobs in commercial aviation.
Already now, plans are maturing for establishing an Aviation Training Center at Namibia's Keetmanshoop Airport with two runways, including one at 2,300m.
If realized, the proposed Aviation Training center will be offering training within a wide range of aviation competencies including pilots, cabin crew, ATC staff, mechanics, ground personnel, and even airline management.
Excepting South Africa and Ethiopia, the projected Aviation Training Center would become the first on the African continent.
Members of the AiRRhow alliance are 11 Finnish universities and educational institutions and industrial providers, as well as Finavia
