Mar 06, 2020 (newstodate): The re-branding of Estonia's capacity provider Regional Jet to Xfly has deservedly attracted much attention - but its sister company Nordica is also very much alive..
Both companies are subsidiaries of the Estonian state-owned Nordic Aviation Group, with Xfly operating as a long-term strategic ACMI partner to airline customers, while Nordica operates commercial flights.
-The Nordica brand is definitely not in the drawer, says Erki Urva, Nordic Aviation Group AS CEO.
-Nordica operates twice daily on a Swedish domestic PSO route connecting Stockholm Arlanda and two Swedish regional airports, and we participate in almost 10 different PSO tenders across Europe, including the route between Tallinn and Kuressaare Airport in Estonia.
-We also sell and fly charters, and intend to re-launch summer routes to Southern Europe in 2021, and maybe limited ones already in summer 2020.
-We are currently working on implementing our own Amadeus commercial platform replacing LOT Polish Airlines' platform used since November 18, 2016, and we now have our own ticket-office at Tallinn Airport also serving LOT .
-Our owner, the Estonian Government, has set clear targets for us – to implement our own and independent commercial platform and to be ready to re-launch direct services out of Tallinn in case the market situation would change dramatically. So, Nordica is very much alive and active, says Mr Urva.
