Mar 10, 2020 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport has presented an ambitious strategy for growth 2020-40.
The strategy aims at seeing the passenger up from today's 3.7 mio (2019) to seven million and cargo volumes up from today's 74,000 tonnes (2019) to 160,000 tonnes by 2040.
The doubling of the passenger and cargo volumes will require an extensive development of the airport's infrastructure and coupling to the national road and rail systems to enhance access and enlarge the airport's catchment area to comprise an even larger part of Denmark as well as reaching deeper into the North German market.
As part of the strategy's Airport City concept, cargo is an integral element in the development over the coming 20 years and will see construction of new premises and facilities for handling and warehousing as well as office buildings to attract logistics and forwarding companies and e-trade businesses immediately adjoining the airside activities.
