Mar 26, 2020 (newstodate): Not exactly benefiting from today's turbulence in the aviation industry, work on certifying a new carrier in Georgia is underway.
Aero Georgia has started the process for obtaining an AOC allowing it to start operations before the end of this year, hoping for a warmer environment by then.
-We have completed the business plan. We are very pleased to have an investor from Europe - a private investor, who has very extensive experience in this field, Igor Aptsiauri, CEO at parent Aero Georgia Group has told Business Media Georgia TV.
From the start, the new airline will focus on operating charter flights from Tbilisi to destinations in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, later adding flights also from Kutaisi.
Already now, Aero Georgia is sourcing two Boeing 737-400F aircraft for immediate purchase, to be placed on a contract with an unnamed customer in the EU.
The Aero Georgia Group comprises four business areas, Aero Consulting, Aero Travel, Aero GSA and Aero Pro Man.
Aero Travel was recently appointed representative of the Chinese company Xiamen Tsingpu International Travel Agency in the Caucasus region, planning to promote charter flights between South China and Georgia.
