Mar 24, 2020 (newstodate): Exporters of Norwegian salmon would have looked in vain for a glimpse of Silk Way West Airlines at Oslo Airport on March 20, 2020.
Plans were to launch a Boeing 747-400F/747-8F flights from that date, initially with one weekly flight, later to increase to two flights coming in from Liege and continuing to Baku for transfer to a Chinese destination.
But - the plans were suspended shortly before the launch, while a source close to the service at Oslo Airport confirms that plans are now to start service from next week.
Earlier, Silk Way West Airlines has been operating flights from Oslo Airport in 2019, but on a charter basis only.
In Scandinavia, the carrier is served by ATS as its GSSA, with bookings managed from the office at Amsterdam.
At Oslo Airport, terminal and ramp handling of Silk Way West Airlines is provided by Oslo Seafood & Cargo Center AS.
