Feb 19, 2020 (newstodate): Iceland will lose part of its connectivity with the Baltic region in summer 2020.
Starting from the coming summer schedule, Wizz Air will retreat from services on the routes between Iceland and Lithuania and Latvia.
The carrier opened the route between Keflavik, Iceland, and Vilnius, in Lithuania, with the first flight in October 2016, and launched flights between Keflavik and Riga, in Latvia, from June 25, 2017.
Wizz Air has however now suspended bookings on the route from Vilnius by Mid-March 2020, and flights from Riga will be suspended from May 31, 2020.
Also offering flights on the route between Iceland and Latvia is airBaltic that made its debut on Iceland with the opening flight on May 28, 2016, and is due to return services again from March 3, 2020, after a short break during the deep winter.
