Feb 05, 2020 (newstodate): Plans for the construction of a new airport at Qaqortoq with a 1,200m runway are gaining pace.
Kalaallit Airports Domestic A/S has short-listed five companies to take part in the tender for construction works on the new airport, including the Canadian company Pennecon Dexter Joint Venture, the Faroese company J & K Petersen Contractors, the Danish/Icelandic company Aarsleff-Istak Joint Venture, and two Danish companies MT Hojgaard A/S and Munck Gruppen A/S.
Kalaallit Airports Domestic A/S will announce the winner of the tender in May 2020, and construction works will start already in summer 2020.
According to the plan, the coming new airport at Qaqortoq will be commissioned by Q4, 2023.
