Feb 28, 2020 (newstodate): Confusion continues to reign over the business case for a revived WOW Air, at some point termed "We are Back".
At a press conference in Reykjavik on September 6, 2019, the US company USAerospace Associates LLC announced its acquisition of the WOW Air brand to bring back WOW Air in the air.
Initially based on a US AOC, later to be supplemented by an Icelandic AOC, ambitions were to start low-cost flights between Keflavik and Washington already in October 2019, initially with a fleet of two aircraft and planning to grow to six aircraft by summer 2020 - finally landing at some 10-12 aircraft.
Since then, few signs of life have proved the seriousness of the project apart from the opening of a cafe in downtown Washington flying the banner: "WOW Air & Cafe landing soon".
But not WOW Air has resurfaced, at least on the internet, with the appointment of Giuseppe Cataldo as Director of WOW Air Italy.
WOW Air now claims that passenger and cargo operations will start at Rome and Sicily in "the very near future", backed by the team of "extraordinary aviation professionals"
