Dec 16, 2020 (newstodate): After a tender process, Wideroe Ground Handling has won a contract for handling at Oslo Airport of the airline Wideroe.
While the two companies are members of the same group, much effort is made to stress that the tender process with other participants was indeed carried through at normal commercial standards.
Wideroe Ground Handling was last present at Oslo Airport during the period October 8, 1998, till September 31, 2008, and re-establishing the base at Oslo Airport from May 1, 2021, will require new employment of staff.
Returning to Oslo Airport will also enable Wideroe Ground Handling to compete with other handling providers for customers in the market.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Wideroe would have some 7,000 annual flight movements at Oslo Airport, currently down to some 5,500.
With the coming inclusion of Oslo Airport, Wideroe Ground Handling will be operating at 42 airports in Norway with more than 1,800 staff, qualifying as Norway's largest provider of ground handling services.
