Dec 08, 2020 (newstodate): Negotiations between the Estonian airline group Nordica and the Polish carrier LOT over the future of Nordica's subsidiary Xfly, earlier Regional Jet, are still ongoing.
-Actually, the discussion has been postponed for technical reasons, but I still expect talks to be completed before the turn of the year, says Erkki Urva, Nordica Group CEO.
Since November 2016, LOT has owned 49 percent of the stake in the capacity provider Xfly, established in 2015, to offer regional flight and crew services for airline companies, but Nordica is to take full ownership of Xfly securing the carrier the status of a fully Estonian-government owned company.
-As for Nordica's leasing company Transpordi Varahaldus, a merger has actually never been under real negotiation. We are cooperating partners, but the issue of ownership is really fully up to the Estonian government to decide.
-In the meantime, Nordica has now become a real airline with an own AOC and one CRJ900 aircraft.
-This aircraft, currently undergoing maintenance, will be used on Nordica's PSO route in Sweden, and we have no plans for adding more aircraft. It is, however, a precondition for obtaining an own IATA code and implementation of our own Amadeus commercial platform replacing LOT Polish Airlines' platform used since November 18, 2016, says Mr Urva.
