Dec 07, 2020 (newstodate): The latest newcomer to the Norwegian skies has now even got a name: Flyr.
To be based at Oslo Airport, the carrier has applied for an own AOC with the Norwegian CAA, and when granted plans are to offer direct low-cost domestic as well as European flights with a fleet planned to comprise five Boeing 737-800 or Airbus A320 aircraft by H1, 2021, supported by a staff growing from today's 30 to some 400 employees by 2022.
With five aircraft in the fleet, the carrier will actually be almost as big in capacity as Norwegian that is currently down to operating six aircraft in the market.
The main driver in the team behind the new venture, Erik G. Braathen, has named Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid as CEO in the management team that also comprises Thomas Ramsdahl as CCO and Brede Huser as CFO.
Ms Frislid takes up the position with a firm grasp on airline management after more than 10 years with the LCC Norwegian serving as VP Crew Management till March 2018.
