Dec 17, 2020 (newstodate): After the launch this week of the all-cargo flights with seafood from Evenes Airport, plans for a seafood freighter service from Northern Norway's Bodo Airport are next in line.
-We are determined to establish a sustainable service supported by a fully-developed infrastructure at Bodo Airport and do not want to press things beyond limits, says Elnar Remi Holmen, Bodøregionens Utviklingsselskap Mng Dir.
-Bodøregionens Utviklingsselskap is owned by local and regional seafood-related producers, forwarders and exporters, boding well for a close dialogue and a high level of commitment to the freighter project from the start.
-We are now talking to a number of airlines, and the final infrastructural elements at Bodo Airport will be in place by March 1, 2021, which is thus the current timeline for the launch of services to lift seafood from the region to the global marketplace.
-Bodo Airport has a high up-time performance, excellent runway infrastructure with no restraints on operations, and certified for handling of large freighters such as Boeing 777F and Airbus A330-200F.
-We will of course welcome any airline offering capacity for seafood uplift on all-cargo passenger aircraft, but our business model builds on transportation of large volumes of seafood exports requiring operations by pure freighter aircraft.
-We enjoy a fruitful cooperation with Avinor, and the project for a freighter service is strongly supported by the local and regional seafood industry. So I am confident that we will see the launch of a freighter service in 2021, says Mr Holmen.
