Dec 17, 2020 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has today waved good-bye to its last remaining Boeing 737 aircraft.
The 21-years old Boeing 737-300 was delivered to airBaltic in 2008 as one of 20 different Boeing 737 aircraft serving with the carrier from 2003.
New owner of the vintage aircraft is the Estonian MRO provider Magnetic MRO that earlier acquired three Boeing 737 aircraft from airBaltic for placement with new operators after maintenance and reconfiguration.
In March 2019, airBaltic entrusted Skytech-AIC to market four of the then six Boeing 737-300 and two Boeing 737-500 aircraft together with their CFM56 engines.
Earlier, three of the carrier's Boeing 737-500 aircraft found a new life with Lithuania's KlasJet, with the first ex-airBaltic Boeing 737-500 aircraft entering service with KlasJet from January 2019, and the next two in Q2, 2019.
airBaltic is now operating an all-Airbus 220-300 fleet with 25 aircraft delivered.
However, the carrier's fleet also still comprises 12 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft leased from Nordic Aviation Capital under a contract expiring only in 2023 - and airBaltic has now contracted Jetcraft Commercial with more than 20 offices worldwide, to exclusively market the three-years sub-lease of 11 of the 12 Dash 8-400 NextGen aircraft.
