Dec 09, 2020 (newstodate): Finavia is to be significantly slimmed in response to the shortfall of traffic during the coronavirus pandemic.
A total of 110 redundancies has been announced, and this will affect also Finavia's subsidiary, the ground handling company Airpro.
Negotiations with unions concerning the future shape of Airpro are still not completed, but an earlier estimate sees 350 jobs at stake.
On the positive side, Finnair inked a split agreement in October 2020 with Aviator Finland and Airpro on ground handling services at Helsinki Airport from March 31, 2021, as the contract with Swissport expires.
Under the contract, AirPro will provide ground handling of Finnair's E190 and ATR aircraft at Helsinki Airport.
In January 2020, ASR Cargo Center also signed a cooperation agreement with Airpro, allowing Airpro to expand into cargo handling at Helsinki Airport.
Airpro can thus provide its airline customers with a full service package including cargo services in addition to existing ground and passenger handling services.
