Dec 08, 2020 (newstodate): The in-night logistics provider DANX Finland has reaped great success with its freighter route between Helsinki and Stockholm.
Since the first flight on October 19, 2020, the Spanish airline FlightLine has been operating a Metroliner SA226 aircraft for DANX Finland, offering some 20 m3 of cargo space on workdays to secure stable In-Night deliveries to Finland and Sweden before seven in the morning, with pick-up of deliveries by the end of the working day in both countries.
-We have actually been operating the service without a single snag or delay since the first flight, which is quite a unique performance, says Pasi Junninen, DANX Finland Mng Dir.
-The service has been extremely successful in the market, with full loads every day from Stockholm to Helsinki which requires meticulous care in loading the shipments to utilize any corner of the compartment.
-Capacity is already now so heavily booked that we are considering replacing the Metroliner with a larger aircraft such as a SAAB 340 freighter that would grow the capacity to about 35 m3 easily absorbed in the market.
-If we decide to take this step, the change might take place already by late-January/early February 2021 if a suitable airline partner is found.
-The return flight from Helsinki to Stockholm remains a challenge but this was calculated already from the start and the service is fully sustainable even with loads only on the flights into Helsinki, says Mr Junninen.
