Dec 14, 2020 (newstodate): Today marks the inaugural flight of the new all-cargo service by Qatar Airways Cargo at Norway's Harstad-Narvik Airport, Evenes.
Scheduled to depart from Evenes on 9.30 pm, Qatar Airways Cargo will fly in from Liege with a Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft to lift 50 tonnes of seafood to Doha for transfer on Qatar Airways flights to destinations in Asia.
-Everything is in place and latest info is that the aircraft will lift off with a full load of Norwegian seafood, says Stig Winther, Perishable Center Nord CEO and the prime mover behind the initiative since 2018 as general manager of the Norwegian company Pole Position Logistics.
Services are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Behind the new all-cargo service is Perishable Center Nord, established in 2020 with main shareholders including Nordlaks Opdrett, Ellingsen Seafood, Salfra and Astafjord Export demonstrating a firm backing in the industry.
