Nov 06, 2020 (newstodate): Slovenia is keen to secure the emergence of a new national carrier after the bankruptcy of Adria Airways on October 1, 2019.
The government has drafted a plan to create a new flag carrier requiring state funding as an element in the country’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, which will require approval by the EU Commission.
Already in December 2019, before the Covid-10 pandemic hit, the Slovenian government was envisaging the set up of a new airline tentatively named Air Slovenia, optimistically hoped to lift-off on its first flight already in February 2020, eventually to be equipped with a fleet of 12 aircraft on a route network comprising 15 destinations in Europe.
