Nov 25, 2020 (newstodate): A major aircraft lessor has targeted the P2F conversion of the Airbus A330-300 as a coming mid-size freighter replacing the aging fleets of Boeing 767F and Airbus A300F aircraft.
CDB Aviation has thus announced a partnership with Germany's EFW, Elbe Flugzeugwerke, to convert two Airbus A330-300 passenger aircraft in 2021, available for lease to airline customers from early 2022.
The two A330 P2Fs will joint CDB Aviation's existing fleet of 228 aircraft, in addition to the lessor's further commitments for 150 in-demand, next-generation technology aircraft.
CDB Aviation is a wholly-owned by China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co. Ltd. with 378 owned, managed, and committed aircraft serving 75 lessees in 38 countries and entities.
Converted to freighter, the Airbus A330-300 will have a range of 7,778 km carrying a max payload of 60 tonnes with up to 23 pallets on the main deck in addition to eight pallets and two LD3 containers on the lower deck.
The conversion program for the larger A330-300P2F was launched by DHL that took delivery of the first of four A330-300P2F freighters in December 2017.
More than 1,600 A330 aircraft have been ordered, with over 1,300 delivered since its service entry in 1994, providing a large pool of aircraft for conversion.
