Nov 25, 2020 (newstodate): In the fleet of the Latvian carrier airBaltic are still 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
All aircraft are however grounded at Riga Airport as the carrier decided to go for an all-Airbus A220-300 fleet from May 2020.
The 12 aircraft are leased from Nordic Aviation Capital under a contract expiring only in 2023 - and airBaltic has now contracted Jetcraft Commercial with more than 20 offices worldwide, to exclusively market the three-years sub-lease of 11 of the 12 Dash 8-400 NextGen aircraft.
With the first delivery in November 2009, airBaltic built a fleet of 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft, of which the first eight was an outright purchase from the manufacturer.
Ownership of the first aircraft was later taken over by the Danish aircraft leasing company Nordic Aviation Capital in December 2010 through a sale-lease back transaction, and the remaining four aircraft were leased from NAC from the start.
