N ov 05, 2020 (newstodate): The Estonian airline group Nordica and the Polish carrier LOT are in friendly negotiations over the future of Nordica's subsidiary Xfly, earlier Regional Jet.
In November 2016, LOT acquired 49 percent of the stake in Regional Jet/Xfly, the capacity provider to Nordica with own AOC.
The parties have now signed an LoI aiming at a full Estonian take-over of LOT's stake in Xfly after which Nordica and all companies in the group will be fully Estonian state-owned.
-We expect to finalize the negotiations within the coming few weeks. The talks are conducted in a friendly atmosphere, with no bad feelings on either side, says Erki Urva, Nordic Aviation Group CEO.
-We hope to see Xfly continuing to provide capacity for LOT, and the two parties will continue also their commercial partnership, says Mr Urva.
Established in 2015, Xfly offers regional flight and aircrew services for airline companies.
Xfly employs 260 people in Tallinn, 150 in Denmark, 60 in Sweden, and an additional 35 specialists in other countries.
With a fleet earlier planned to grow in 2020 to seven Embraer 190/195, 12 Bombardier CRJ900, and nine ATR72-600 aircraft, Xfly's customer portfolio has included SAS, LOT, Luxair, AirSERBIA, and flybe.
