Nov 23, 2020 (newstodate): SAS has reportedly confirmed its intentions to return services to the Faroe Islands again in 2021 as the coronavirus will probably have eased by then.
SAS performed its last flight on the route between Vagar Airport and Copenhagen Airport on September 29, 2020, leaving Atlantic Airways alone again on the trunk route between the two market where demand dropped as the coronavirus pandemic caused markets to shut down, while strict entry regulations took effect.
The airline will, however, return services on the route again from March 28, 2021, while the frequency has still not been revealed.
SAS made its entry on the route with the first flight on April 27, 2017, breaking the virtual monopoly enjoyed by the Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways that started operations on the route on March 28, 1988.
