Oct 26, 2020 (newstodate): Ukraine has now finally shelved all plans to restart production of new AN-124 Ruslan aircraft.
In 2019, plans were still to start production of the first new aircraft already before the end of the year in cooperation with Boeing's subsidiary Aviall that was already involved in the production of the new generation regional aircraft An-148/158/178.
Already in 2014, plans were maturing for re-starting production of the AN-124 freighter at the Russian Aviastar-SP plant, but plans were stalled over the growing military and political conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
However, media report that Turkey is considering the possibility of financing the completion of the second Ukrainian cargo aircraft An-225 Mriya, now left 70 percent complete at the plant in Ukraine.
