Oct 121, 2020 (newstodate): Sweden's community-owned Jonkoping Airport is fighting hard for a stake in the country's air cargo industry - and successfully so, even in Covid-19 times.
After a weak start to the year with volumes down 14 percent, y-o-y, during January-March 2020, H1 volumes improved somewhat with a drop by "only" eight percent y-o-y; and the decrease in January-September is now down to six percent, y-o-y, after growth returned in Q2 and Q3.
In September 2020 alone, the airport thus handled 285 tonnes of cargo, which is an increase by nine percent, y-o-y.
While automotive shipments and PPE still play a strong role in cargo through Jonkoping Airport, volumes of e-trade goods are becoming the single largest and growing segment.
