Oct 30, 2020 (newstodate): Second in cargo ramp handling at Oslo Airport is the independent provider Scan GSE that has seen black figures all along despite the corona pandemic.
-Scan GSE has about 20 percent of the cargo ramp handling market at Oslo Airport where Spirit takes the remaining 80 percent, says Frode Bakker, Scan GSE CFO and owner of the company together with Vernon C. H. Thor, Scan GSE CEO.
-Some 90 percent of the volumes handled by Scan GSE is seafood brought to drop points by the terminals that are our customers and from there loaded on primarily large freighters from airlines including, in our case, Turkish Cargo, Ethiopian, Silk Way Airlines and CAL Cargo Airlines.
-In principle we can serve any terminal at Oslo Airport, but our customers on firm contracts are Oslo Seafood & Cargo Centre and Mowi. We may also support airlines' self-handling, but that would of course in any case involve a terminal handling partner as well.
-As any other provider, we did see some turbulence in volumes and traffic in February-March 2020, but after this our volumes have been steadily rising, and with 16 employees today we have even hired more manpower in 2020 to cope with demands.
-As the smaller provider in cargo ground handling at Oslo Airport we compete on quality and customer satisfaction, and a major asset for us is competitive short turn-around times due to a flexible approach to customer needs and a dedicated staff, says Mr Bakker.
