Oct 19, 2020 (newstodate): A Norwegian partnership has secured a contract to provide the KONGSBERG advanced Remote Tower System for Air Traffic Control at Menorca Airport.
Behind the winning bid are Avinor and Gesnaer Consulting supporting KONGSBERG's system offering the unique design of the Electro-Optical Sensor Suite, including a rotating platform housing visual and infrared 360° daylight and infrared cameras and a pan-tilt camera platform with a visual zoom camera, an infrared camera, a laser range finder and a signaling light.
The digital out the window view is displayed for the controllers on high resolution monitors.
KONGSBERG and Avinor Air Navigation Services are working together on the Ninox program that includes 15 different airports that will all be operated from a new control center in Bodo, Norway.
Two Norwegian airports are already operational and controlled by Bodo today, with the next thirteen lined up to be connected into the control center.
