Oct 21, 2020 (newstodate): The Latvian charter carrier and ACMI provider SmartLynx Airlines is eyeing new business opening up in the Polish market.
Little is known about the plans that surfaced via announcing a new job opening as SmartLynx Country Manager Poland "to take on a role of managing operations, developing business and provide support for our expansion into a new market", as the call sounds.
What is known, however, is that the company is currently working on a new business model that will be finalized in the course of November 2020.
As the first airline in the Baltic region to move to Malta, SmartLynx obtained its Maltese AOC on April 18, 2019, starting out with one Airbus A320, leased from Aercap and delivered March 25, 2019.
And in June 2020, SmartLynx Malta obtained the FAA approval, enabling the airline to conduct passenger and cargo operations to, from, and transiting the United States.
Finally, earlier in October 2020, SmartLynx' Maltese subsidiary announced its decision to enter the cargo ACMI market with two Airbus A321-200 converted freighter aircraft.
Member of the Avia Solutions Group, SmartLynx Airlines operates a fleet of 24 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, including nine A321.
