Oct 09, 2020 (newstodate): Icelandair is downsizing its fleet of Boeing 757 aircraft as the airline's traffic is at an all-time low - with little immediate prospects for growth in Covid-19 times.
Yesterday the Icelandair Group announced the sale of three Boeing 757-200 aircraft to a yet-unnamed customer, joining the cargo conversion feedstock.
Now, an Icelandic media reports the decommissioning of four Boeing 757-200 aircraft, of which two are sent to "a partner" in the USA for scrapping while another two will reportedly be scrapped at the base in Iceland, in both cases to bolster the parts and components storage for use by the airline itself as well as for external sales.
