Oct 07, 2020 (newstodate): A new project to launch an airline providing domestic flights in the Norwegian market was announced yesterday.
The announcement was deliberately made to coincide with Wizz Air's virtual press conference to publish plans for entering the Norwegian market for domestic flights in competition to SAS and Norwegian.
While the new Norwegian airline project has still to get baptized - and financed, its five founding fathers are most well-known figures in the country's airline industry, sharing a solid background in the management of the ailing carrier and future competitor, Norwegian.
Till July 2020, Brede Huser served with Norwegian for 14 years, last as Exec VP Loyalty & Mng Dir Norwegian Reward.
Leaving Norwegian in May 2019, Thomas Ramdahl brings in experience from almost 11 years with Norwegian, last serving as Exec VP Commercial Short-haul.
Asgeir Nyseth served with various Norwegian companies for more than 15 years, last as Norwegian Air Shuttle Accountable Mgr and COO, and leaving only in October 2019.
Alf Sagen served with Norwegian for 14 years from 2020 till 2016, last as Accounting Expert.
Tord Meling leans on 11 years till 2014 with Norwegian and last serving as Head of Aircraft Finance.
Finally, Bjorn Erik Barman-Jenssen has 14 years of experience till August 2020 with Norwegian, last serving as Exec VP Operational Development and also heading Norwegian Cargo.
Signaling the pondus of the group behind the new airline is Erik G. Braathen, Vice-chairman of the Board of Norwegian for seven years till 2009, and at that time one of the airline's five largest investors. Prior to that he was Braathens' Managing Director 1989-99 and member of the family with a firm standing in Norway's aviation business.
