Oct 14, 2020 (newstodate): After concluding its series of test flights at Toulouse, the first Airbus A321LR for SAS is expected at Copenhagen Airport on October 15, 2020.
The aircraft will be the first of three aircraft, with the next deliveries slated for Q2 and Q3, 2021, respectively.
The long-range aircraft will be deployed on long-haul routes from Scandinavia to destinations in the USA and Canada as well as the Middle East, serving thinner routes less well supported by Airbus A330 or A350 aircraft.
In a release on January 23, 2019, SAS announced its decision to add the A321LR to its fleet, signing a leasing agreement with Air Lease Corporation, with the first aircraft to enter commercial service already by H1, 2020 - which was however later adjusted.
With a lower-density cabin, the Airbus A321LR can operate routes spanning almost 7,400 km, 930 km longer than the regular A321 aircraft.
