Oct 07, 2020 (newstodate): Reflecting the sustained strong demand for scheduled and ad-hoc cargo capacity in September 2020, Finnair's total cargo tonnes were down by only 1.3 percent from August 2020, to 1,486 tonnes.
Otherwise, the bleak picture of cargo volumes continue in the company's monthly statistics showing a total of 3,996 tonnes of cargo carried, including 2,184 tonnes on the Asian lanes which was a drop by 80.7 percent, y-o-y - and a flat zero in cargo on the NAM lanes.
In the first nine months of this year, Finnair has transported a total of 52,126 tonnes of cargo, down 59.2 percent compared to last year, and including 14,179 tonnes on all-cargo flights with passenger aircraft on routes to Asia and North America.
Cargo thus continues to play a significant role for Finnair's operations; in the Asian traffic, the passenger load figure was only 18.5 percent, but operations were supported by the cargo volumes generating a high cargo load factor at 87.9 percent, up 21.5 percentage-points, y-o-y.
