Oct 28, 2020 (newstodate): After the first nine days of operations, DANX Finland is pleased with the performance of its new freighter route between Helsinki and Stockholm.
-So far, the operation has performed extremely well with volumes growing day by day and without any delays or snags, says Pasi Junninen, DANX Finland Mng Dir.
Starting from October 19, 2020, the Spanish airline FlightLine is operating a Metroliner SA226 aircraft offering 18 m3 of cargo space on workdays to secure stable In-Night deliveries to Finland and Sweden before seven in the morning, with pick-up of deliveries by the end of the working day in both countries.
-The operations from Stockholm to Sweden is seeing shipments increasing in both volume and size, while the flights between Helsinki and Stockholm remain a challenge, says Mr Junninen.
-This was, however, expected, and we have set our focus on settling the service firmly in the Finnish market before fresh efforts will be directed towards building up the service on the leg from Helsinki to Stockholm as well, aiming at a sustainable and more balanced operation.
-We are currently working on enhancing the airport handling of the shipments at both Stockholm and Helsinki as time is crucial for us. And we have actually now managed to reduce the handling provided by Swissport at Helsinki Airport by 20 minutes, and hopes are that within a month or so we will be allowed to bring our trucks directly up to the freighter at Helsinki Airport, further strengthening our control of the entire process to have the shipments at the terminal before midnight for distribution to customers before 7 a.m.
-So after a successful launch of services we are quite confident of the future of this new freighter route, says Mr Junninen.
