Oct 22, 2020 (newstodate): Plans for a seafood freighter service from Northern Norway's Bodo Airport have now entered a new and conclusive phase.
-All investments in the pertinent infrastructure at Bodo Airport including GSE and handling services have been made, and the certification of the airport for operations by large freighters such as Boeing 777F and Airbus A330-200F is in place, paving the road for start up of freighter services at any point in time now, says Elnar Remi Holmen, Managing Director at Bodøregionens Utviklingsselskap that is driving the project for stakeholders in the local and regional export of seafood.
-We have thus entered the final and conclusive phase in the process, which is marketing the project among airlines and the companies in the seafood exporting industry.
-Bodøregionens Utviklingsselskap is now engaging in facilitating meetings between airlines and the seafood companies to ascertain if there is sufficient interest on both sides for setting up scheduled freighter services that are based on both firm commitments and sustainability.
-At this stage we cannot disclose the identity of airlines that are already engaging in the process, nor can we set a date for the expected launch of flights. But the process is now entering a crucial stage, and based on the fact that the project is actively driven by stakeholders I remain quite optimistic, says Mr Holmen.
