Oct 02, 2020 (newstodate): The not-so-good-news: Billund airport's cargo volumes in January-September 2020 were still down 9.2 percent, y-o-y, to 49,609 tonnes.
However, looking at figures for September there are sound reasons for optimism: total volumes were up 10 percent, y-o-y, to 6,836 tonnes, driven by a rise by 22.8 percent in imports at 2,321 tonnes, while export volumes also generated 4,515 tonnes which was 4.4 percent up on last year.
Needless to say, the steep increase in imports reflect not least the sustained and frequent ad-hoc freighter traffic into Billund Airport carrying PPE and other equipment.
The 4.4 percent rise in exports is even more impressive as volumes were also up by 5.9 percent in September 2019.
Actually, this month's export volumes set a new September-month record at Billund Airport.
