Oct 15, 2020 (newstodate): The Portuguese ACMI and charter carrier HiFly is well accustomed to operating between Greenland and Denmark - and is again returning for a brief visit.
Air Greenland's single wide-body aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, suffered a technical problem shortly after departure from Narsarsuaq on October 13, 2020, and was forced to return, leaving the passengers stranded.
Today, the route will be operated again with an Airbus A330 aircraft from HiFly until Air Greenland's own aircraft can be returned to service.
Air Greenland has put the Airbus A330-200 aircraft up for sale after inking an MoU with Airbus for delivery of an Airbus A330-800neo, slated for delivery by the end of 2021 but now under reassessment considering the current downturn in traffic and Air Greenland's financial situation.
