Oct 22, 2020 (newstodate): This winter will see a decrease in flights between Greenland and Denmark.
Normally operating four weekly rotations between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen, Air Greenland is suspending one weekly flight due to lower demand in market caused by the corona pandemic, and the decrease in Transatlantic flights will also reflect on domestic flight services supporting the traffic.
Air Greenland has now completed a drastic round of redundancies to rein in on costs pending a future return of the market.
The carrier is also amid a revaluation of the planned acquisition of an Airbus A330-800 to replace its aging A330-200 long-haul aircraft, slated for delivery by Q4, 2021, in time for the commissioning of the two new Transatlantic airports replacing the current Transatlantic gateway at Kangerlussuaq by 2023.
A decision on a revised delivery date is now expected before the end of this year.
