Jan 24, 2020 (newstodate): The Slovenian company Air Adriatic emerged as the winner in yesterday's auctioning of the assets left by the defunct carrier Adria Airways.
Air Adriatic, set up in the wake of Adria Airways' bankruptcy in 2019 and owned by a businessman Izet Rastoder, will now take over the AOC suspended till September 30, 2020, but due to be reactivated once Air Adriatic meets the requirements of the Slovenian CAA, including registration of aircraft.
Plans by Air Adriatic are said to comprise the launch of a new low-cost carrier based on the AOC.
So far it seems that plans by Russian and UAE investors to use the opportunity to introduce the Superjet 100 in European aviation through the contested AOC have been stalled.
But who knows:
-We are in talks with the buyer, and we have the full support of SCAC and GTLK, Oleg Evdokimov, representing the Russian/UAE group tells newstodate after the auction.
