Jan 13, 2020 (newstodate): Slovenia's Adria Airways folded its wings on October 1, 2019, and its assets are to be auctioned later this month.
An international group of investors, with the support of experts on analytics and consultants in air transportation, plans to take part in the auction aiming at reviving the airline to set up air transportation on a regular, charter basis, as well as offering ACMI and wet lease services.
-The airline will offer its services in both the Slovenian market and in other countries, and our analysis shows that the Slovenian market retains the potential for further development, says Oleg Evdokimov., representing the initiative.
-The company believes that the Superjet 100 aircraft is the best option for the regional market, aiming at operating five aircraft in the initial phase.
-Crucial to this choice is the current program of the Russian Government to support the processes of forming a stock of spare parts and staff training, the presence in the region of at least two MRO centres in Venice and Belgrade, certified for SSJ100 maintenance, and the availability in Slovenia and other European countries of trained personnel motivated to work with Superjet 100 aircraft.
-The company has received a large number of letters from former Adria Airways employees approving these intentions and offering their assistance in their implementation, says Mr Evdokimov.
Adria Airways actually signed an LoI with Sukhoi for 15 Superjet 100 aircraft, with deliveries to start already in 2019, with the aircraft to be acquired on a long-term lease contract, but these plans were stalled.
