Jan 24, 2020 (newstodate): Oslo Seafood Center, located off-airport new Oslo city, is determined to develop its role in the country's seafood logistics.
The company operates at 3,600 sq m premises including a 2,500 sq m terminal dedicated to handling and reloading of trucks carrying seafood, primarily salmon, from the production sites in the north destined for onward transportation to European markets and airports.
-Our terminal has live sensors monitoring temperatures in the terminal as well as control of water cooling and gates systems, and two separate cooling systems with redundancy to secure temperature pertinent to handling of seafood, says Sven Erik W Hansen, Oslo Seafood Center AS CFO.
-We are in close dialogue with customers including forwarders and a few seafood producers to monitor their needs and requirements, and are determined to develop our services to match their wishes.
-We are today offering reloading of trucks, but are now planning to introduce also palletizing and containerizing seafood shipments ready for airside delivery at Oslo Airport. This new service will be introduced already by the second quarter of 2020.
-Our plans include also establishing a certified seafood filleting and processing plant, and a decision on this investment will be made within the coming few weeks, says Mr Hansen.
Further down the line lurks a decision on moving the facilities to new premises with more space for growth, preferably between the current city-near location and Oslo Airport.
