Jan 27, 2020 (newstodate): Before the end of this year, Oslo Seafood Center will implement full digitalization of truck operations at the center.
-Our goal is to introduce slot allocation for trucks carrying seafood for reloading at OSC, similar to airports' slots allocation for airlines, says Sven Erik W Hansen, Oslo Seafood Center CFO.
-Today, much time is wasted for truck drivers walking into the center for info on the gate to receive them, and very often difficulties arise as traffic on the roads may have generated delays requiring rescheduling of handling of the trucks all leading to waste of time and costs.
-The coming new system will be an app at the disposal of all parties involved, from forwarders and truck drivers to OSC, allowing everyone to freely enter changes and other pertinent info into a system with immediate real-time updates for everyone to share.
-Today, almost all information between the parties from forwarders to OSC takes the form of emails that require us to allocate a person just to pass the info from emails into our system, with time consumed and risks of errors involved.
-But beyond these obvious advantages, we are aiming at a fully holistic solution that will also allow for measuring time consumption and efficiency at all levels and all along the entire chain, which will bring the value created by each step into the open.
-Today, much focus is on the value added by forwarders, shippers and other obvious participants in the value-chain. We would like to enhance the transparency of all elements and stake-holders in the entire process, to allow anyone contributing in the seafood industry to share in the successes reaped, says Mr Hansen.
