Jan 20, 2020 (newstodate): Helsinki Airport will see the return to its route map of the Russian destination Petrozavodsk in the coming summer schedule.
Starting from May 1, 2020, the Russian carrier Severstal Aircompany will operate two weekly rotations between Petrozavodsk and Helsinki during the summer schedule with CRJ900 aircraft.
The Russian carrier last provided seasonal flights on the route until 2011 with Yak-40 aircraft.
A joint military-civilian airport, Russia's Petrozavodsk Airport, in the Russian Petrozavodsk region bordering Finland's Karelia, has one 2,500 m runway, new ILS and runway lighting systems, allowing the airport to serve also as an alternate airport in case of adverse weather conditions at St Petersburg, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and other airports in Russia's northwest regions.
