Jan 08, 2020 (newstodate): The rise in tensions in the Middle East again causes troubles for civil aviation operations.
FAA has issued an Aviation Notice describing flight restrictions that prohibit US civil aviation operators from operating in airspace over Iraq, Iran, and over Gulf and Omani waters.
-The FAA will continue to closely monitor developments in the Middle East, the notification reads.
The FAA warned of the possibility of "miscalculation and misidentification" of civilian aircraft in the face of escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
Much of the traffic in the airspace concerned is performed by the region's airlines including Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways, but other international airlines including Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and China Airlines will also avoid routing the aircraft over Iran or Iraq due to regional tensions, sources say.
